What is a project?

An emoticon project is a free to enter mass collaboration between emoticonists. Projects usually revolve around a set theme or background and allow emoticonists (old and new) to make entries to be added to the main project base. Some projects require your entry to fit certain requirements or use set bases to allow the entries to fit together in the final deviation.

Project Gallery

With the latest updates to categories, the emoticon gallery was given a section devoted entirely to projects. These allow you to upload your project bases and entries in a separate section of the emoticon gallery.

Finding Projects

As projects are help by a range of people in the community it can be a little tricky to track them down. Luckily there are certain places on the site which help you would with your search:

:bulletblue: Emoticon-Projects is an awesome group which accepts projects too its gallery delivering new projects straight to it's watcher's inboxes
:bulletgreen: Emotication hosts a list of emoticon projects and will happily promote new projects it knows about (This list is currently outdated)

Hosting Projects

Projects are another great way to get involved and active within the community. They often take a good amount of planning, thinking ahead and commitment, but can also be rewarding. However when planning a project, remember these things:

:bulletblue: Make sure you understand file formats (.gif/.png/Flash) and their restrictions on projects

:bulletpurple: Most animated projects need to be created within flash. If you wish to run an animated project ensure you know how to add entries prior to the launch

:bulletgreen: Get your project noticed. Submit it to Emoticon-Projects and politely ask emoticonists if they will help promote it

:bulletblue: Have a clear and easy to understand set of rules/guidelines to entering your project

:bulletpurple: Have a clean and appealing background + template (if applicable). Most older emoticonists wont participate in projects with badly created resources

:bulletgreen: Pick an original theme. If there have already been 4 'space' themed projects try to think of something more original. You can find lists of past projects here and here

Emoticon-Projects

:iconemoticon-projects:

Emoticon-Projects is a brilliant project based group within the community. As a watcher/member you will have new projects delivered right to your inbox and as a project host you can get your project advertised to over 200 watchers at the click of a mouse.
